It is not even May yet, but I have October on my mind, and our annual Banding Together webathon benefiting the Spondylitis Association of America.
This year marks the 19th annual benefit, as we try to raise money to fund research and provide the programs and services to help the community suffering from this genetic rheumatoid arthritic condition that causes inflammation and fusion in the vertebrae of the spine.
Musicians Mick Mars (Motley Crue) and Dan Reynolds (Imagine Dragons) both suffer from ankylosing spondylitis, as does my wife, and 2.3 million Americans.
I will soon be reaching out to musicians to be involved in this year's webathon. This far earlier than usual, but between my day job and helping to care for my mother in law, my time to work on the benefit will be less than usual. Starting earlier will hopefully this year's webathon to be just as epic as previous years, a multi-day broadcast of live performances and a massive digital compilation as a thank you to people who donate.
So if you are a musician, be on the lookout for an e-mail from me soon, or you can reach out to em in advance if you like.
