BlowUpRadio.com Newsletter 12/16/19

Hi Everyone,

19 years ago today I (Lazlo) started BlowUpRadio.com to play music from NJ's local music scene that commercial radio was ignoring.

A lot has changed btwn 2000 & 2019, but we're still here... & sadly, commercial radio still ignores local music.

Thank you for being part our journey to #SupportGoodMusic

I hope you'll stay with us for the next 19 years as we continue to be #WhereNJRockLives!

And a huge thanks to Jaime Rose, Josh Bicknell, Keith Peters, Tauree, John Van Ness, & everyone who came out to Espresso Joe's last night to help us celebrate with our last BlowUpRadio.com Guitar Pull of 2019!

We will kick off our 2020 season of BlowUpRadio.com Guitar Pull's at Espresso Joe's on Saturday January 11th

It will feature Deena, Matt Colligan, & Moon (Kay Roman)

The acoustic opener will be Hal & Addy

The show starts at 7pm.

Espresso Joe's is located at 50 West Front Street, in Keyport, NJ.

In addition to an array of beverages & baked good, Espresso Joe's owner is an amazing chef so you can grab dinner while you enjoy the show. And for those with dietary restrictions, there are many vegan & gluten free options.

BlowUpRadio.com’s Annual New Year’s Eve Broadcast Will Benefit New Jersey Native Musician With Lupus

Internet radio station and music website BlowUpRadio.com, where NJ rock lives, has announced its popular annual New Year's Eve Broadcast will double as a Rock The Lup benefit webathon to help New Jersey native musician Catherine Wacha offset medical costs associated with the lifesaving kidney transplant she needs due to Systemic Lupus.

On Dec. 31, 2019, BlowUpRadio.com will broadcast live from noon until midnight with numerous local New Jersey artists performing on air. The live broadcast will also feature the premiere of 16 previously unreleased tracks from various New Jersey artists on the brand new Rock The Lup 2019 benefit compilation. Anyone who donates $10 or more will be able to download this exclusive compilation album. All proceeds will go to Catherine to help offset her medical expenses.

A New Jersey native, Catherine is a singer/songwriter, performer, organizer and activist who currently lives in Pittsburgh, PA. She was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus in 2001 when she was only 21-years-old. Although she worked with her doctors to manage her illness, Lupus took a toll on her body over the years and eventually attacked her kidneys. Catherine was hospitalized several times and treated with aggressive medications, including low doses of chemotherapy. Although the treatments worked for a time, by 2017 she was in end-stage renal failure. Most of her kidney function had been lost. Catherine’s illness affects her quality of life and leaves her very tired. Doctors say a kidney transplant is critical. To donate to her cause directly, one can go to
her National Foundation For Transplants page to donate to help her

"I have known Catherine Wacha for over a decade now, and regularly play her music on BlowUpRadio.com," says Lazlo, the founder of BlowUpRadio.com. “She is a wonderful person dealing with a painful illness. It is hard enough to have to deal with Lupus and it is unfortunate that due to our current healthcare system, people who are sick have to deal with the mounting related expenses even if they have good medical benefits. For years, Catherine herself led an annual Rock the Lup benefit to help fight for a cure which BlowUpRadio has been proud to help support in the past. Now, we are combining our efforts to help Catherine as she continues her own fight."

"It is frustrating to have my health deteriorate to the point where I no longer have the energy for things I love to do like playing music, cooking and attending shows," shares Catherine Wacha, "It's also frustrating to have to worry about how I am going to keep my household afloat while I am dealing with the medical bills that are piling up. I am grateful for people like Lazlo who have stepped in to help me in my time of need. Hopefully I will be able to find a kidney donor soon and will be moving forward with my much needed transplant."

Artists scheduled to perform during BlowUpRadio.com's New Year's Eve Broadcast include: Amanda Rose Riley, Hal Guitarist Trio, Hammer Richman, Jenny Cat, Jim Mill, Joe Mifsud, Laree Cisco, Motherface, Pat Veil, Shotgun Bill, The Last Martyr, Tony Tedesco, Turnpike Gates, plus a special performance from Catherine Wacha.

(Artists performing are subject to change)

The 2019 Rock The Lup compilation will feature previously unreleased music from: Amanda Rose Riley, Catherine Wacha, Deena, Evil Annie & The Ants, Happy Joe, Jim Testa & Grim Deeds, Joe Mifsud, Lowlight, Pat Veil, Shotgun Bill, SonofDov, The Clydes, The Jaguar Mother, The Mighty Alrighty, Those Fine Young Men, Tony Tedesco & Full Fathom 5 ft Audrey Kate Geiger.
