Newsletter 1-18-10

Hey Everyone,

I know you’ve probably heard this enough already, but just in case you haven’t, if you have extra money, please donate to Oxfam, Red Cross, or another reputable organization helping the people of Haiti in the aftermath of the earthquake.

If not for the fact I am already busy working on the benefit album and concert (see last week’s newsletter) for Shayne Miel from the Future Kings Of Nowhere (www.thefuturekings.com), who is currently fighting stage IV lymphoma (cancer), I’d have probably tried to put together a Haiti Earthquake Relief Benefit. If anyone is working on one, I’d be happy to help any way I can, but I just don’t have the time to take lead on the project (as much as I’d like to).

Still celebrating the release of his new album When The Night Falls, Tris McCall will be performing double duty, playing with both his own band and as keyboardist in Brooklyn indie-pop combo Overlord.

~

Danny Coleman (Rock On Radio)

This week's picks are going to involve travel across the big river to the state of Pa. Hamilton NJ native and long time area rocker KEITH MONACCHIO will be performing at an open mic. night on Tues. 1/19 at HAVANA in New Hope Pa. Located at 105 S. Main St., this event is hosted by another veteran Jersey musician JOE VADALA. I'm told that there is always a wealth of incredible talent at this every Tuesday event; so it should be well worth the trip! ROCK ON!

Pissed Off!

Did Avatar really win best dramatic picture at the Golden Globes?!?!? Really?!?!? I am saddened to see that the foreign press association has gone for big budget, big effects, and not much plot, over films of substance. It’s a sad day indeed.

* Editor’s note: In fairness, Lazlo has disclosed that he has not actually seen Avatar and judges his sentiment on trailers, reviews, and the fact that James Cameron hasn’t made a decent movie since the Abyss. And don’t even get him started on Titanic winning the Oscar for best picture.

That's all for this week folks.

Peace,
Lazlo
