Supporting New Jersey's Local Music Scene Since 2000

Album of the Month
Citizens Band Radio - "CBR"

Earlier this year I gave a glowing review to a 3 song EP that I received from New Jersey's Citizens Band Radio. Those three songs begin their brand new full length CD, "CBR". On it, they continue to blend bluegrass, mountain music, classic country, and southern rock into something beautiful. Pedal steel guitar and mandolin mixes with twangy vocals, and songs with classic country type titles like, "ole Kentucky whiskey blues", "my ramblin ways", and, "band of outlaws". Fans of artists like Merle Haggard, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Jayhawks, Old Crow Medicine Show, Warren Haynes, and even the Grateful Dead, will all likely find something on this CD that they will enjoy. "18 wheels" even sounds like a country infused gospel song. Citizens Band Radio may not save your soul, but they can certainly move it with their fine debut album.

Message From Lazlo

Hi Everyone,

I just spent the last hour writing my non-CMJ review, so I'm going to keep the newsletter short this week. However, I urge you all to read my review since I did spend so much time detailing the weird week I had last week.

~~~~~~~~~~
One of the things you'll note in the review is that I mention working on a new BlowUpRadio.com Webcast last week. It's not quite ready for primetime yet, but there will be an announcement here in the newsletter soon when the new webcast is up and running.
For now, I'm happy to listen to people's ideas about what they'd like to hear on BlowUpRadio.com's webcast. Feel free to e-mail me.
~~~~~~~~~~

This week on the BlowUpRadio.com Podcast, music from Logs In The Mainstream, Lloyd United, Citizens Band Radio, The Commons, High Speed Chase, Souls' Release, Sounds of Greg D, Michelle Vecchione, and Gary Paul Hermus . Enjoy!

Click here to download the new podcast

Tonight's Lazlo's Den had an in-studio visit by The Future Kings Of Nowhere (I hope to have some of the interview and their in-studio performance up on LazlosDen.com later this week).

Keep an eye on LazlosDen.com, to find out when an interview with Moving Units (that I plan to record this week), will air.

And big plug right now for Upstage Magazine's anniversary show happening at The Saint this Friday. There are many people who work hard to support the local independant music scene, and Gary Wien is one whose tireless effort putting out Upstage Magazine each month and updating UpstageMagazine.com daily, often goes unnoticed. So come on out to The Saint this Friday, and help celebrate the kick off of Upstage Magazine's 5th year.

Peace,
Lazlo
