Message From Lazlo

Hi Everyone,

Happy Labor Day!

Hope you are all getting to relax on this holiday.

I, on the other hand, have been working hard to update the website, and even change some of this newsletter's layout. Check it out and let me know what you think.

You can also now download John Caspi's live in-studio performance of his song, "smile (song for my son)", by going here. It was the first time he played the song live, and he sounded great!

~~~~~~~~~~
And this Wednesday's Folk You! show. Why? Because not only is this a FREE show (with free parking), but check out this amazing line-up!
Folk You!
Jim Testa
For over 20 years, Jim Testa listened to other people's music and told you what he thought. Now it's your turn. The editor/publisher of JERSEY BEAT, one of the oldest and most well-respected music fanzines in America, has dusted off his guitar and returned to the stage with a second collection of his quirky, catchy, irreverent, witty, and sometimes sentimental pop tunes. "There Goes The Neighborhood" includes runaway hits like "Sally's Got A New Tattoo," about a grrl who gets a little too carried away at the tattoo & piercings parlor, and "Punk Rock Is Not Day Care," a savage indictment of the callow 'tweens turning Jim's precious punk scene into an episode of Lizzie McGuire. Jim appears as a solo singer/songwriter, with his friend John Raido on harmonica, and with the band Eisenhower at area venues throughout NYC and NJ. But you can almost catch him on the 4th Saturday of any month at the Charleston Bar & Grill in Williamsburg. The Village Voice says "quirky and catchy and a lot of fun." The Rev. Keith Gordon wrote that Jim's two EP's are "consistently charming, witty and fun to listen to." Greg Matherly of ARC magazine called it "straight up acoustic punk." But when Jim shows up with his guitar to play for you, you'll say, "There goes the neighborhood!"
the Anderson Council
The Anderson Council love hooks, good chord progressions, and the occasional FREAKOUT. They're from New Brunswick, New Jersey but Peter sings with an English accent (think Ray Davies or Syd Barrett). People like to make a big deal of this, but we don't think it is. The songs don't sound right with an American inflection. 2001 Saw the release of their debut CD "Coloursound" which is now out of print. The band has just released their second full length CD "The Fall Parade".
Andrew Lipke
Andrew started playing the piano at a very young age and after moving to America from South Africa in 1987 began writing songs on the guitar. Countless musical endeavors followed throughout his teenage years and after high school he moved to Philadelphia to further his understanding of music by earning a degree in music composition. During college Andrew formed the band Metagroove -later to be known as Revisor- and over the next five years garnered regional and national acclaim for his gifts as guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter. After ending Metagroove in search of a more intimate delivery of his music, Andrew started performing as a solo artist. Stripping away excess elements gave immediate focus to the range and power of his voice, and brought a refreshing clarity to his subtle and deeply meaningful lyrics. With comparisons ranging from Jeff Buckley to Rufus Wainwright Andrew continues to perform his music throughout the East coast.
Little Dipper - counting backwards
The best way to describe the music of little dipper is "uniquely familiar". Play the music in the background around some friends and they'll swear they've heard this band before..but yet ask them who they sound like and they won't be able to classify it. The band produces it's own unique sound...
