2. MESSAGE FROM LAZLO
Ah, heavy storms, how they can totally ruin getting a newsletter out on time...
...Sorry this is a day late folks, but I had to shut the computer down last night as I was working on this because of several near black outs during the storm. But now without any further ado, I give you this week's newsletter...
Lot's to cover this week so let's get right to it...
First, you may notice that I took the CD Review section out of the newsletter. Lately, I have been to busy to consistantly write the CD reviews, so I have put that aside for the time being. I may ocassionally write one, but there is only so many hours in the day and I think most of us would rather see the effort put towards the webcast. However, if there are any local music fans out there that would like to consider writting CD Reviews for blowupradio.com, drop me a line at lazlo@blowupradio.com.
Second, the Literature Corner can always use more poets, lyricists and short story writers. If you are one of the aforementioned, and you live in NJ, e-mail your stuff to lazlo@blowupradio.com.
Now on to the big story...
My Birthday is coming up and there will be 2 big concert celebrations for it.The first will be Thursday May 9th at the Plum St Pub in New Brunswick (produced in association with Artist Amplification), and the second will be on Saturday May 18th at the Broadway Central Cafe in South Amboy (produced in association with World Beyond Network. Next week I'll talk all about the May 18th show, but let's talk about the May 9th show now.
May 9th, the party will begin at 9pm sharp with a solo performance by the always incredible Josh Van Ness. If you missed his CD release party in NYC the other night, make sure you don't miss this show, and if you saw his show in NYC you know you need to see him live again.
Next on the bill is Pole Position, whose CD, "XO", is one of my favorite albums of late. These guys make music like no other. Do not miss their set!
Small a.m. will then take the stage to rock like only they can. These kids (oy, now I know I'm getting old if I am calling them kids), get up there and give 100% everytime I see them, and have music so catchy you'll be singing along by the second chorus.
Closing out the night will be a solo set by Val Emmich. If you heard the set we played last week on At the Show (and shame on you if you missed it), you already know that this kid (there I go again calling people kids) is going to be big. See him now while you can still see him playing small bars. Mark my words, in a few years he'll be a recording star.
So come down to the Plum St Pub on May 9th for a great night of rock and to see me get drunk :) Who knows, maybe I'll wear my birthday suit...ok I just scared everyone off, sorry. I promise to wear more than my birthday suit :)
